Sharon Tours the Sunshine State

District 14 players love the Midwest!  From the beautiful plains, to the rolling hills and sparkling lakes, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska and the Dakotas are wonderful states in which to live and compete!  Still - a getaway in the winter to more moderate climes is a treat.

ACBL President and District 14 Board member Sharon Anderson was treated to bridge and sunny days in Florida this February.  You can see all of Sharon's travels and the wonderful people she met in Florida at her blog.  Sharon's most recent visit was to the Bridge Deck Club in Naples.  Just scroll down to see Sharon's entire tour!

Steve Gaynor's Bridge Calendar

For some years, Steve has been compiling a most detailed bridge calendar.  Although it is primarily aimed at Minnesotans, Steve's calendar nevertheless includes many bridge events and tournaments that all District 14 players would enjoy.  Want to know when our GNT Finals are in 2015?  Where are all the District 14 Regionals?  Steve's calendar has it!

District 14 Achievements

Our District 14 Director, Sharon Anderson, receives a variety of reports about our players.  Recently, Sharon got three analyses of masterpoint races that she wanted to share with us.

The first is masterpoints earned for 2011 in the "top 500."  Congratulations to G.S. Jade Barrett for his impressive 1547 and wife Karen for second spot of 958.  Also kudos to Bill Kent; earning 643 as a non-professional is no mean feat.

Sharon's second report is lifetime totals for District 14.  At the head of the pack - and likely to stay there for some time - we find Alan Stout with an amazing 32,624.  Unfortunately, illness has kept Alan away from the table this past year.  We hope that he will one day be able to play again and add to his massive total.  A total of 3 players in our District have earned over 20,000 masterpoints:  G.S. Jade Barrett and Jim Nash.  Well done!

The third and final report is sectional totals from 2011.  Terry Lijewski heads this list with 230 masterpoints earned last year; Bill Kent nabbed the second spot with 196.  Just six points behind, we find husband and wife Terry and Kathy Beckman tied for 3/4.
