Koch's Crystal Ball

Is there any game more fascinating than bridge?  If so, I do not know about it.

Abe Today, John Koch presents us with a hand that combines honesty of spot cards with weighing all the evidence.  Sometimes, just like Honest Abe, cards are what they appear to be.

For John's weekly wisdom, please see below - along with a bit of commentary from your blogmaster!

I might add that my preference is to avoid such overcalls.  They seem to have so much going against them and so little to gain.  Such an overcall can:

  • Get your partner off to the wrong lead
  • Have your partner compete too high in your terrible suit

And - as is the case in this column,

  • Draw a roadmap to the opponents about where the cards are located!

As always, our thanks to John for his wisdom and instruction!
