Today is the last day of the Gopher Regional - District 14's premier late spring tournament.  We hope that many of our players enjoyed the events that Gopher 2010 offered.

Youth and Junior Ambassadors

Bridge in Schools

Training the next generation of bridge players is both integral and exciting for our game!  In Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, great work is being accomplished.  You can read all about the progress here.

World Bridge Series Championships

Here is our opportunity to play in a World Championship without leaving the U.S.!  Please see below for all the information and links.

The World Bridge Series Championships (WBSC), the world’s biggest and most prestigious bridge competition will be held in Philadelphia, PA, USA, October 1-16, 2010!  It is the first such event to be held in the United States since 1994 and approximately 100 nations are expected to participate in the world series, represented by thousands of the world’s best play­ers competing for world titles.  Along with the WBSC, the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL) District 4 will be hosting a World Bridge Federation Regional tournament which will enable bridge players of all levels to share in the excitement!  The World Youth Team Championships will also take place in Philadelphia at this time.  ACBL & WBF Master Points will be given out for these events.  Our sincerest thanks to the United States Bridge Federation (USBF) and the ACBL for their support and sponsorship.  For WBSC schedules, housing, and additional information please click on the following links: WBF- http://www.worldbridge.org/tourn/Philadelphia.10/Philadelphia.htm

GNT 2010 Winners

We have four teams of winners for 2010 Grand National Teams!  Please read Mike Cassel's report about the weekend competition at MNBridge.com.

GNT 2010 - May 15-16

Grand National Teams is one of the ACBL's premier grass roots events.  Players from all over North America compete locally in four flights.  Each District's winning teams then have the opportunity to compete against their peers at the Summer NABC's.  This summer, our venue will be New Orleans.

District 14's competition is only three days away.  This year, the District finals will be held in New Brighton, MN, a northern suburb of the Twin Cities.  Mike Cassell, the coordinator of GNT for our District, wrote this a few days ago about the excitement of the event, and how players can participate.

Whether you are a newer player in Flight C, or a veteran with thousands of masterpoints, do consider playing in this coming weekend's GNT!  You never know; your team could be the one heading down to New Olreans this July!

Who is Where?

District 14 is comprised of 9 units over five states:  Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska and North and South Dakota.  Our most populous unit is 103, Minnesota Gopher with 888 members - just a hair ahead of Viking Bridge Unit #178, with 877.  Northwest Iowa is small - but vibrant! - at 146.

Races
