Our latest GNT competition is well under way! GNT is a fine way to compete amongst your peers, win masterpoints and perhaps earn a subsidized trip to compete at the Summer NABC in Toronto.

The Toronto Youth NABC is coming this summer!
This is a wonderful opportunity for all District 14 players 19 or younger to compete on the national stage! Youth players should register by July 1st. They can register online at www.Youth4Bridge.org. They must register by this date in order to receive a gift bag and a sourvenir t-shirt. Please note: A passport is required for all US citizens traveling to Canada.
Also, if those young bridge players can correctly guess the name of the Mystery Bridge Hand contained in the logo, he or she may be eligible to enter a random drawing to win a $500 Visa Gift Card. The drawing will be held on July 30, 2011 at the Youth NABC in Toronto, ON.

As many of you know, Jay Baum, originally from our District 14, will be retiring. Thus, the ACBL is looking for a dynamic chief executive to run our Memphis -based not for profit organization.
The ACBL has approximately $15 million in revenues, 61home office employees and 40 full time Tournament directors. Our CEO will be working closely with a 25 member Board of Directors who are involved with many aspects of our organization. Applicants should have experience in all areas of small business management and will be expected to: manage a staff team; generate revenues; Increase membership; and run a cost effective operation, which caters to the needs of our 165,000 person membership.
Critical Requirements are:
Bridge player familiar with the ACBL
Relocation to Memphis, TN area
Prior experience commensurate with the position of CEO

When duplicate players compete, they go for the gold - or, the platinum, or red, or black. Bridge players "coin of the realm" is masterpoints.
How do competitors in District 14 stack up?
For lifetime competition, Alan Stout of Tipton, Iowa, towers above the rest of the field. His amazing 32,621 masterpoints puts Alan more than 11,000 ahead of second place Jade Barrett! We might also note that Alan is 15th overall for top lifetime masterpoints in the ACBL.
During 2010, however, Jade Barrett of Elk Point, South Dakota, blew away the competition. Jade lead with 1,284 masterpoints. Wife Karen grabbed the second spot with 778.
A young man from Duluth seized more masterpoints than any other junior player in 2010. Ben Kristensen of Duluth, Minnesota, won 54. Jake Olson earned 38 for the second slot.
Each of these lists are posted below. Kudos to all of our District 14 players who earned so many masterpoints last year - and to everyone who came and competed and conquered! Good luck to all in 2011!
As we head into the beginning of 2011, with most of District 14 battling a snowstorm, what is the state of our membership? District 14 hovers just under 4,000 players.
