On her way to Gatlinburg from Florida, Sharon had the pleasure of attending a national ABA (American Bridge Association) tournament. The ABA has roughly 3,000 members, so their "nationals" are much smaller than those of the ACBL. Nevertheless, their members enjoy them greatly. Many Minnesotans participated some years ago when the ABA held a national tournament in Minneapolis.
Harriette Buckman is the ACBL liason to the ABA. In Tampa, Harriette partnered Chester G. Johnson. Chester is the ABA's top masterpoint holder, with over 45,000 masterpoints!
Inbetween the competition, Sharon and Harriette had an opportunity to discuss ACBL/ABA relations with Cheryl Jones, the President of the ABA Education and Charitable Foundation and George Hudson, President and Chairman of the Board.
