"Medard was probably the most driven and optimistic person I've ever had in my class," she said.
Prosper took extra classes and was scheduled to graduate at the end of the school year, Tucker said. He planned to study international relations in college and wanted to help orphans from war-torn countries.
"To have overcome so much and then to pass away in a car accident really is devastating," de Carranza said.
