Tonight, I attended the eighth annual summer party of the Minnesota Association of Bloggers. (No; I have not gone to all 8!)
I am glad I was able to go to this one :)
Getting to see my old buddies David and Margaret Strom was super. I met the Stroms some time ago through our shared love of birdies. Margaret had a blog on birds, and our love of birdies and then politics brought us together. Seeing Mitch Berg, MOB organizer & Shot in the Dark blogger, Faith Worley, her 2 adorable kids and her folks, John LaPlante plus other familiar faces - and new ones - also was a treat.
It seemed like we discussed everything: Republicans and Democrats, deficits, journalism, abortion, gay rights, medical ethics, Medicare, life and death decisions, birds (of course!), human nature ... And then, it seemed like we barely scratched the surface of anything.
Most of us agreed it was tougher to blog as frequently as we did in the "good old days" - and that somehow, getting everything "done" in today's world was also tougher and tougher. Yet, for one about-as-close-to-perfect-as-you-can-get early autumn evening, having the opportunity to mingle and muse with old and new friends was utterly delightful.
Thanks, Mitch, for organizing - and - here are a few shots from the evening! (If you are wondering about the black and white at the end, I ran out of light and the colors in my shots were bizarre. With the miracle of digital photography, I just turned 'em into B&W!)
