Thanksgiving 2012. As is the case so many years, I'm heading out in a few hours to attend our Fall National Bridge Tournament. In reality, it's an international event; players from roughly 75 nations will attend. Lots of bridge and many friends with whom to enjoy the competition.
While I travel, however, I reflect on how much I have for which to be grateful. At 61, I'm still quite fortunate to have both of my parents. I have exceptionally wonderful friends, work that is stimulating and introduces me to a wide variety of interesting people, pretty good health and a beautiful home. (The fellow above is a visitor right outside in my backyard.)
Despite all its faults, I am fortunate to live in what remains one of the best nations on the planet. And thank goodness for the Internet, which allows me to discuss the issues of the day with friends all around the world.
Wherever you are and whatever you are doing today, I hope that you enjoy the festivities. If you have half as much in your life as I have in mine - then you, too, are most fortunate.
