Make gay marriage a First Amendment issue: religious agents should not do the work of government. Be open and welcoming of immigrants, but demand assimilation and that assimilation (English only, subordinating ethnic for American values, etc.) is a part of any amnesty offer.


Agree wholeheartedly, J. Reed! Impossible for our government to meet the language needs of scores of various immigrants. At least some basic familiarity with English should be necessary.
