People are often pleased to be able to give their opinion on events - especially when it's something shared nation-wide. President Obama's second inauguration would be an example.
Usually, however, opinions are not rendered until the event has already occurred. If you're a low-information American, though - the small detail that we're days away from the inauguration doesn't mean that people can't express what they thought of it before the fact!
