Beginning Oct. 1, ACBL enlisted a team of part-time Tournament Directors to enter the Electronic Tournament Schedules for TourneyTRAX. Once a Tournament Chair has submitted a flyer or pdf file to the Tournament Department, it is then submitted to one of the TDs to look over, verifying legality of events and stratifications, or identifying any missing critical information. From there, the TD enters the data in TourneyTRAX creating the Electronic Tournament Schedule which appears on the ACBL website.
Once completed, the TD will email the Tournament Chair, Tournament Correspondent, and DIC asking that they proofread the schedule as it appears online. Any corrections should be submitted directly to that TD. If a Tournament Chair later decides to make any changes to the schedule, they must be submitted to Tournaments@acbl.org
We are excited about implementing this new process and are certain it will serve many purposes. Our accuracy in entering the data should be much better overall, the communication with the TC and DIC will ensure better opportunities to make corrections, and it will be an opportunity to learn more about how tournament schedules are constructed for our part-time TDs. The process will evolve as improvements are made to TourneyTRAX, and we continue to receive feedback from Tournament Organizers. It is our hope that the end result will be better-quality schedules with reduced effort for Tournament Organizers, TDs and HQ personnel.
