One of bridge's most intriguing features is that you never truly "master" our game. Bridge is so deep, so complex - filled with so many twists and turns - that even after years, its mysteries and intrigues continue.
Delightfully, in the 21st century we have a myriad of ways to enhance our bridge understanding. One of many is the ability to log onto the Internet, and find a wide variety of websites, articles, comments and more to increase our knowledge about getting better.
Here is but one link to excellent advice:
"Concentration is the most important thing to improve. It takes work, it takes practice. Learn to concentrate on the cards, to not let anyting distract you, practice at every game you play, until it become second nature. It took me years of work, day after day."
Can you count the times you have gone wrong on a hand, when later you realized that had you simply concentrated a bit more about the evidence you had, you could have figured out the right thing to do? All of us have succumbed to this!
Perhaps the greatest master, however, of concentration is Bob Hamman. His ability to focus on a hand - and nothing else - is legendary.
Of course, very few of us will ever approximate the skills of The Great One. Nevertheless, we can aim higher and get closer with increased focus and concentration!
