Subject:  Minutes of Unit 178 Board Meeting, January 9, 2020

The meeting was called to order by Board President Barb Zipoy.

Board Members Present: John Schlundt, Liz Hughes, Richard Cottle, Kerry Holloway and Cass Weil. Unit Treasurer Victoria Smith, present.

Minutes from November 16, 2019, approved as corrected.

Board Moves as Follows:

The Board moves to retain treasurer Victoria Smith as the main signer on the organization’s checking account, to add Richard Cottle as an additional signer and to remove Judith Hansen as a signer.  The Board also moves to retain treasurer Victoria Smith as the main signer and contact on the CD’s held by State Farm Bank, to add President Barbara Zipoy as an additional signer and to remove Judith Hansen as a signer.

Approved.

Old Business:

1. The Winter Sectional will be held in New Brighton on January 23 through January 25.
2. The Gopher Regional will be held at the Crown Plaza Hotel, Airport, on May 18 through May 24. John Schlundt is a committee member. Help is needed on Facebook and on encouraging room rentals at the hotel.

The Board will support the event but no board member was assigned to do so.

3. Grand National Teams for 2020 will be selected on April 18. Larry Hensen is the coordinator.
4. Beginning Bridge Class: The Educational Fund placed an ad in the StarTribune which brought in 24 players on a Saturday afternoon.
5. Liz Hughes presented a $100 gift card to Carol Ann for her work as a standby.
6. Peg Kaplan Blog: Kerry advised using MNBridge.com to access blog. There are about 125 viewers per day.

New Business

1. Awards Banquet will be held on Sunday, April 26 at noon. Food may be provided by Sandy Nelson. Roger and Sharon Anderson will host. Steve Gaynor will direct. Liz Hughes will manage.
2. Charity Game: Date not selected.
3. Board members are encouraged to recruit new members.
4. $50 was approved to Steve Gaynor for providing pizza at the GNT. The qualifying game will be held on Sunday at noon on February 9.

Next Meeting: Thursday, April 16 at 9:30.
