I love good movies. But I don't go to the movies anymore as much as I did in the past. On average, the quality has dropped significantly in recent years.
I did, however, see a movie that I thought was magnificent: House of Sand and Fog.
With a superb script, compelling storyline and fine acting, it's a film worth seeing twice. (I plan to go again this week.) If you have not seen it yet, treat yourself and go. But a warning: the film is not light entertainment.
Ben Kingsley gave a performance that I thought exceeded that of his role as Gandhi. I hoped he would win the Oscar for his incredible acting.
I feared, however, that an actor in one of the more popular and more marketable films would win. And so it proved.
No Oscar for Kingsley. He shall instead have to be comforted with the simple fact that he produced the top performance of the year.
Give us a movie review, Peg.
