Last night I left Kansas City about 9PM after a pretty successful tournament. My team played in 3 knockout events and won the first two. When I left my team at halftime, we were up a fair piece; perhaps they held on and we performed a hat trick. The team played in one other event where we stumbled at the finish line. Playing the leaders, they were stellar and we dropped to 6th.
You'd think that driving through Missouri, Iowa and Minnesota would be boring, but I most enjoy it. The landscape changes from rolling hills to flat plains dotted with crops and farmhouses. In my home state, of course, shimmering lakes are plentiful. I listen to my favorite CD's and tapes (yes, I am a dinosaur) as I tool along.
Something about the great nothingness of the midwest is most relaxing to me.
As I leave my hotel room in a few minutes and head back for Minnetonka, let me leave you with these New Year's wishes:
- I wish for you friendship, love, and mental stimulation.
- I hope you have the courage to do what you must to achieve the goals you seek.
- I wish strength for you when life is not what you wish.
- And for all of you, I wish good health. As a child, I never understood why my parents emphasized good health. At 53, I finally understand.
Happy 2005 to one and all!
As you did for me, I second the same for you and yours.
