No, I haven't decided to post about fashion today. Rather, I am going to discuss "the edge" - the fringes of society on the right and the left.
A few years ago, I visited Stormfront, a White Nationalist community. Never had I been exposed to the blatant anti-semitism, racism and bigotry that was spewed there. I would link to it, but their URL no longer can be viewed. A few people at the site told me that it was being monitored by the FBI! Perhaps there was some truth to it.
On the left, I give you sites like the Daily Kos. Here you can still "enjoy" their version of hate, lies and rampantly vicious imagination. I think my favorite comment from the article about Sarah Palin's so-called fake pregnancy to cover up her daughter's real unplanned pregancy would be this:
“Maybe it’s a set-up to get rid of McCain. The story(ies) about Palin come out, he looks like a doofus and withdraws from the race, the Rethugs nominate Romney. Sounds implausible, I know, but I wouldn’t write off anything in Roveland.”
Of course, there are many contenders for ludicrous and outrageous. Feel free to visit and select your own!
Some of the idealistic on the left or the right seem to think we can get oh-so-close to a perfect society. The lefties seems to believe if we just had the full complement of government programs and laws, guiding us to ideal behavior, we could get to the Promised Land... The righties seem to think that if government would only let the market work its magic, we'd have some Ayn Rand "Fountainhead" movie set.
Of course, as much as I am a free-market devotee, I have few illusions. As long as we have Stormfront slime and Daily Kos vermin, any kind of lala land here - or anywhere on the planet - is impossible. The best we can hope is that this fringe of society doesn't grow too large - and that the rest of us realize how destructive it is for anyone to go there, except for a glance at what happens when mold grows.
I guess you missed these post from Right Wing sites. Within minutes of the announcement of Ted Kennedy's dire condition, right wing websites allowed demeaning comments to flourish. The ones below come from Townhall.com, whose Mary Katherine Ham is Bill O'Reilly's chief denigrator of left-wing sites and their despicable bloggers and comments.

but good for the country. Will he have the decency to resign? I doubt it. What's sad is what he did to Mary Jo Kopechne.

I won't have sympathy for a man who left a young girl to die and who supports the "right" to murdering unborn babies. I never pray for ill upon anyone, but I also don't pity those who make evil choices

This at least answers one question I've had for years about the "Charasmatic Kid From Chappaquidick" - he might have a brain!!
Does this qualify as in your words "version of hate, lies and rampantly vicious imagination?"
Let us not forget Bill O'Reilly's website was being looked into by the Secret Service for death threats against Hillary Clinton.
