So, ten days in Toronto was not enough for me! Now I'm in Omaha, playing bridge from 9AM until about 10:30PM (yes, we do get lunch and dinner breaks :))
This year is tougher than many previous ones. A few teams have world class players on them - and - I must admit that at my advanced age, it's getting tougher to play championship bridge 12 hours a day. Still, no doubt I am having a wonderful time.
Of course, as they do every year, Bill Gates and Warren Buffett compete in the field. My team never played theirs (the tournament is huge, and sometimes the pairings work out that way.) But, I did get to visit a little - and go out for Cokes after one of the sessions with Bill, my buddy Bob Hamman, their teammate David Smith and a friend from India.
Bill and Warren did especially well in one of their team events. Although they are not experts, they beat a team that crushed my team just this evening! Most impressive. And, Bill and Warren were also wonderful to meet with a number of youth players who had a special event for them yesterday.
Here are a few shots of the guys competing, of Warren and his favorite partner, Sharon Osberg, and the guys with the kids.
